Xiema is a town in the municipality of Chongqing in southwest China, in the hilly country north of the main city. The terrain here is rarely flat. Ridges and valleys shape where streets can go, and the town's built-up area follows the lower ground in irregular bands rather than a straight grid.
From above, that produces a map of curving roads, winding lanes and small patches of dense housing separated by green hillsides. Newer development and main roads connect Xiema with the wider Chongqing area, cutting longer, smoother lines across the landscape. Farmland and terraced slopes fill much of the space around the town.
