Botataung Map Poster & Print
Botataung is a township in central Yangon, lying along the northern bank of the Yangon River at the eastern end of the downtown area. Its map is defined by two elements: the broad river and its waterfront, and the rigorous street grid laid out in the colonial era, with long east–west roads crossed by numbered and named streets at close, regular intervals.
The township takes its name from the Botataung Pagoda, which stands near the riverbank. The pagoda was destroyed during the Second World War and rebuilt afterward, and unusually its stupa is hollow, so visitors can walk inside. Its position close to the water makes it one of the landmarks that anchors the waterfront on a map of the city.
A Botataung map poster captures the meeting of grid and river: the tight rhythm of the downtown blocks, the heavier lines of the main roads, and the smooth, open expanse of water along the southern edge. In black and white, the precision of the street plan against the river's calm surface makes for a striking, graphic composition.

Yangon River frontage
The river forms the southern edge of the township, a wide open band on the map lined with wharves and jetties that contrast with the tight streets.
Botataung Pagoda
The pagoda stands near the waterfront, rebuilt after the Second World War, and gives the township its name as well as a recognisable point along the river.
