The Nile bank
The river runs along the western side of the town, giving the poster a clear natural edge and a curve that contrasts with the straight streets.

Ad-Damir Map Poster & Print
Ad-Damir is the capital of Sudan's River Nile state. It stands on the east bank of the Nile, a little south of where the Atbara River, the Nile's last major tributary, flows in. The town occupies a narrow strip between the river and the desert, and that setting defines its map: a band of cultivated land along the water, then the built-up area, then open ground.
Much of the town is laid out in fairly regular blocks, and long straight streets make the pattern easy to read from above. Ad-Damir has long been a regional centre and is historically associated with religious learning in the Nile valley. With the larger railway city of Atbara to the north, it forms one of the main urban clusters of northern Sudan.
An Ad-Damir map poster plays on contrast. The river is a single strong line along one edge, the streets form a steady field of rectangles, and beyond them the lines simply stop where the desert begins. The composition is minimal by nature and suits the restrained black-and-white treatment very well.

Regular blocks
Long parallel streets divide the town into rectangular blocks, creating an even, orderly pattern that is easy to recognise at a glance.
Desert edge
Toward the east the built area ends abruptly, and the empty space of the surrounding desert becomes part of the design.

Cur Ad-Damir
Tabula quae aliquid significat
For Sudanese families spread across the region and the world, Ad-Damir is often a place of origin rather than a place of daily life. A map of it keeps that connection visible. Write the town name in the title, add a family name or a year, and point the coordinates to a home by the river.
Pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital package costs $9 and contains six sizes as unwatermarked 300 DPI PNG and PDF files. If you prefer, a printed matte poster can be shipped, with an optional wooden frame.
