Valley centre
The oldest streets run along the valley floor. There the town is most compact, and the densest part of the map follows the line of the low ground.

Águas Formosas Map Poster & Print
Águas Formosas is in the northeast of Minas Gerais, Brazil, in hilly inland country near the border with Bahia. Its name means beautiful waters, a reference to the streams in the area. From above, the town sits in a valley. The central streets follow the low ground, while newer streets climb the surrounding slopes.
Because of the terrain, the plan is not a strict grid. Streets bend to follow contours and waterways, and the town has a more organic outline than the planned settlements of southern Brazil. Around it, the land breaks into hills, pastures and dirt roads, and small streams mark the valleys. Águas Formosas serves as a local centre for the surrounding rural area.
An Águas Formosas map poster shows a town adapted to its landscape: a dense valley centre, irregular edges, and roads winding into the hills. It is a genuine portrait of the Minas interior, with a warmth that suits the Paper and Sand styles.

Contour streets
As the town climbs the slopes, streets bend and curve with the terrain. This gives the plan a natural, irregular outline.
Streams and hills
Small watercourses mark the valleys around town, and rural roads wind through the hills between them. Together they fill the edges of the poster.
