Béja Map Poster & Print

Béja is the capital of its governorate in northern Tunisia. In Roman times it was known as Vaga, and it has long been a trading town for the Medjerda valley, one of the country's main wheat-growing areas. The town is built on the slopes of a hill, which gives it a compact, tiered shape rather than a flat grid.

On the map the old medina appears as a dense tangle of lanes on the higher ground, near the site of the kasbah. Newer streets run down the slopes and along the main roads, with more regular blocks at the bottom of the hill. Beyond them the land opens into farmland and the broad valley to the south.

A Béja map poster shows this progression from the winding lanes at the top to the straight roads below, and then the open countryside. It is a small city with a clear shape, and in black and white every change in its street pattern is easy to see.

Cur Béja

Tabula quae aliquid significat

For people from Béja, including those now living in Tunis or abroad, this poster offers a familiar view of the hill and the medina. It suits both traditional and modern rooms and does not need a caption to make sense.

Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with the name in Arabic or French. Sand and Paper suit the warm, dry landscape. Classic black & white shows the maze of the medina most sharply.
