Dense town lanes
The centre is a tight tangle of narrow lanes shaped by older paths rather than a planned grid. On the poster they form the darkest, most detailed part of the composition.

Bilthra lies in the Ballia district in the far east of Uttar Pradesh, on the Gangetic plain close to the border with Bihar. The land here is almost completely flat, and from above the town appears as a cluster of lanes and small blocks with fields pressing in on all sides. Village roads fan out across the farmland, joining settlements that sit only a short distance apart.
The Ballia district lies between large rivers, and water shapes the whole landscape: old channels, ponds and low ground that floods in the monsoon. Bilthra functions as a local market and a stop on the railway, serving the villages around it. The town has no grand plan. Its streets follow older paths and property lines, which gives the map its irregular, organic texture.
A Bilthra map poster captures this plain-country pattern: a dense knot of lanes, a railway line running through, and a web of rural tracks leading out to neighbouring villages. Rendered in black and white, the fine network of paths becomes the main subject. It is a quiet and honest portrait of a small town in the eastern Gangetic plain.
The centre is a tight tangle of narrow lanes shaped by older paths rather than a planned grid. On the poster they form the darkest, most detailed part of the composition.
A railway line crosses the area and gives the plan a rare straight line. It links Bilthra to the wider region and cuts cleanly across the irregular streets.
Rural roads branch out across the flat fields to nearby villages. Seen from above, they create a delicate net around the town that fills the edges of the map.
