Bonga Map Poster & Print

Bonga is the main town of the Kaffa Zone in southwestern Ethiopia, the region widely regarded as the original home of wild Arabica coffee. From above, the town sits among steep, forested hills, and its streets follow the ridges and slopes rather than a regular plan, winding between valleys and small streams.

Kaffa was once the centre of an independent kingdom, and Bonga served as an important seat of that state. The surrounding forests form part of the Kafa Biosphere Reserve, where coffee still grows wild beneath the canopy. On a map, the town is a modest cluster surrounded by broad areas of woodland crossed by a few roads.

A Bonga map poster shows a settlement shaped by terrain and forest. In black and white the curving streets, the valleys between them and the large quiet spaces of woodland create a soft, organic composition. It is a fitting image for a place so closely tied to the story of coffee.

Ridge-top streets

Roads follow the hills and slopes around the town, curving along ridges and down into valleys, which gives Bonga's map an organic, winding pattern.

02

Kaffa forests

Dense forest surrounds the town, part of the Kafa Biosphere Reserve, where wild Arabica coffee grows beneath the canopy.

03

Valley streams

Small streams run through the folds between the hills, adding fine, curving lines between the built-up areas and the woodland.
