Market square core
The historic centre gathers around the market square and the Propsteikirche, where short, irregular streets meet at odd angles and show the medieval layout more clearly than any photograph could.

Tabula
Brilon sits on a limestone plateau in the Hochsauerland, higher than most towns in North Rhine-Westphalia. From above, its core is easy to pick out: a tight knot of streets around the market square and the Propsteikirche, with roads leaving in every direction toward the surrounding villages. Beyond the houses the pattern changes quickly into field boundaries, patches of woodland and the pale, sharp-edged shapes of quarries cut into the rock.
The town calls itself a forest town with good reason. Brilon owns an unusually large municipal forest, and on a map it shows up as a broad, quiet mass wrapping around much of the settlement, crossed by a thin web of forest tracks. The contrast between the dense centre and these open, lightly drawn surroundings gives the sheet its character.
History adds a second layer. Brilon was a member of the Hanseatic League, and the old town still follows a medieval outline rather than a planned grid. A Brilon map poster captures that contrast in black and white: the irregular centre, the ring of newer housing, the ribbons of the main roads and the wide calm of the uplands around it all.
The historic centre gathers around the market square and the Propsteikirche, where short, irregular streets meet at odd angles and show the medieval layout more clearly than any photograph could.
Brilon's extensive town-owned forest reads on the map as a wide field of calm, cut by narrow tracks, and gives the poster generous open space around the built-up area.
Limestone quarries on the Brilon plateau appear as sharp-edged clearings among the fields, geometric shapes that contrast with the soft, curving lanes of the nearby villages.

Cur Brilon
For people from the Sauerland, or anyone who has spent holidays walking its forests, this map is a quiet reminder of a particular landscape: small town, wide woods, high ground. You can add a title, a family name or a date that matters, and adjust the coordinates line beneath it.
There are five styles. Classic black & white keeps the forest edges crisp, Paper and Sand soften the sheet for a living room, and Noir and Blueprint suit a study or office. HD files cost $9 and come in six print sizes, or you can order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
