Corrente is near the southern tip of Piauí, close to the borders with Bahia and Tocantins. The surrounding land is cerrado, the tropical savanna of central Brazil, with wide horizons, scattered trees and a clear dry season. The town serves as a local centre for this remote corner of the state.
From above, Corrente has the layout of many towns in Brazil's interior: a central grid of blocks around a main square and church, with newer neighbourhoods added at the edges as the town grew. The river that shares its name runs nearby, adding one natural curve to an otherwise orderly map.
A Corrente map poster shows the regular grid in the centre, slightly looser streets on the outskirts, and a few highways extending into the countryside. The open cerrado around the town leaves plenty of white space, so the town appears as a clear, self-contained shape.

River curve
The Corrente River provides a natural winding line near the town, breaking up the straight streets.
Roads outward
Highways leave the town toward the south of Piauí and the neighbouring states, and appear as long single strokes crossing the open land.
