Fereydūn Kenār Map Poster & Print

Fereydūn Kenār is a small town on the southern shore of the Caspian Sea in Māzandarān province, Iran. The land here is almost perfectly flat, and from above the town appears as a cluster of streets set among a vast pattern of rice fields and irrigation channels, running up to a long, straight coastline.

The area is known for its wetlands and the traditional water-storage ponds used for rice farming, which attract large numbers of migratory birds in winter. For years it was the wintering site of the last western population of Siberian cranes, which made the town known well beyond Iran.

A Fereydūn Kenār map poster captures the geometry of this landscape: the small street network of the town, the fine divisions of fields and canals around it and the clean line of the Caspian shore.
