Guelendeng stands on the Logone River in the Mayo-Kebbi Est region of southwestern Chad. On a map the river is the defining line. Its broad channel bends past the town, with sandbars, side channels and seasonal wetlands spread across the flat ground beside it. The far bank is Cameroon, so the water is also an international border, and the town reads as a settlement looking across at its neighbour.
The streets do not follow a formal grid. Lanes and tracks run out from a central area toward the fields, and walled compounds fill the irregular blocks between them. The main road north toward N'Djamena and south toward Bongor draws the one strong straight line in the plan. The road linking Guelendeng with N'Djamena and Bongor cuts a clear, steady stroke through the informal street pattern and gives the map its main axis.
