Valley street pattern
The roads follow the valleys and wrap around the hills, so they form curving lines rather than a grid. The layout reflects the rolling Bergisches Land around it.

Gummersbach Map Poster & Print
Gummersbach is the administrative seat of the Oberbergischer Kreis, in the uplands east of Cologne. The terrain shapes the map. Hardly any street runs straight for long, and neighbourhoods sit in valleys or along ridgelines, separated by strips of forest. The centre lies in a hollow, and newer districts spread out along the roads that climb away from it.
For many years, much of the town centre was taken up by the Steinmüller boiler works. After industry left, the site was redeveloped with a university campus of TH Köln, an event hall and new housing, and the street pattern around it is noticeably newer. Beyond the town, the district is dotted with reservoirs, and a map drawn wide enough includes their irregular shorelines.
A Gummersbach map poster captures a place with more trees than open land and streets that follow the hills. In sport, the town is known for VfL Gummersbach, one of the most successful clubs in the history of German handball, which gives the name a meaning well beyond the region.

Former Steinmüller site
The former industrial site in the centre has been redeveloped with a university campus and new streets. On the map it shows as a newer, more regular section.
Forest gaps
Wooded slopes separate the districts, which leaves broad empty areas on the poster and makes the town look like a loose cluster of settlements.

Tabula quae aliquid significat
The poster suits handball fans, graduates of the local campus, and families with roots in the Oberbergisches Land. The winding hill streets make a restful, organic image.
You can personalise it with your own title, subtitle and coordinates, such as a season or a founding year, and print it in Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir works well with the dark forests.
