Concentric rings
Rings of streets surround the historic core in successive layers. From above, the pattern is unusual and unmistakable, a round plan set on open, flat land.

Hajdúböszörmény Map Poster & Print
Hajdúböszörmény is on the Great Hungarian Plain northwest of Debrecen. Its town plan is one of the most distinctive in Hungary. From above, the centre is a round core surrounded by concentric rings of streets, and roads leave it in every direction like spokes. The shape is often compared to a wheel or a target.
The town was one of those granted to the hajdú soldiers by István Bocskai in the early seventeenth century, and it still carries their name. The circular layout is linked to that defensive past, when the ring of the old town could be protected. Around it, the flat farmland of the Hajdúság stretches out in every direction.
A Hajdúböszörmény map poster is a rare chance to hang a town that is geometric by design. The radial streets and rings create a symmetrical pattern that needs no explanation. It works as a piece of Hungarian history and as an abstract image at the same time.

Radial roads
Roads run outward from the centre in all directions, like spokes of a wheel. Together with the rings they give the map its target-like symmetry.
Hajdú heritage
The town was given to the hajdú soldiers by Bocskai in the early 1600s. That defensive origin is still visible in its compact, enclosed core.
