Hengbei lies in the hilly interior of eastern Guangdong, a region of green ridges, narrow valleys and rivers that have long supported Hakka farming communities. The town occupies a stretch of valley floor, and its map follows the logic of that terrain: buildings concentrate on the flatter ground, while the hillsides around remain largely undeveloped.
The main road through the valley is the clearest line on the map, with a modest network of side streets, lanes and village paths branching from it. Fields and small plots fill the spaces between settlements, and streams wind down from the hills toward the valley floor. The overall effect is intimate and linear rather than spread out.
Places like Hengbei rarely appear in guidebooks, yet they matter a great deal to the families whose roots are here. A Hengbei map poster records the town honestly, without embellishment, a pattern of streets and waterways held within the hills that define it, and a quiet tribute to a home valley.

Surrounding hills
Wooded ridges close in on the town from several sides, leaving broad unbuilt areas that give the printed map generous breathing room around its centre.
Streams and fields
Small watercourses run down from the hills through patchworks of farmland, adding delicate curving lines between the scattered groups of houses.

Cur Hengbei
Tabula quae aliquid significat
Many people from the hill towns of eastern Guangdong now live in larger cities or abroad. A map of Hengbei offers a way to keep the home town present, calm and recognisable, on a wall far from the valley.
Set the title and subtitle as you like, perhaps with a family name or ancestral village, and add a date. Among the five styles, Paper and Sand suit the rural setting, while Noir and Classic black & white give the valley road a bold graphic presence.
