High Peak Map Poster & Print

High Peak is a borough in the northwest of Derbyshire, covering part of the Peak District. Rather than a single city, it is a group of towns, including Buxton, Glossop, New Mills and Chapel-en-le-Frith, separated by moorland, reservoirs and steep valleys. From above, the settlements appear as small, dense clusters linked by winding roads across wide open ground.

The area includes Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District, where the Mass Trespass of 1932 became a landmark in the campaign for public access to the countryside. Buxton, a spa town, is known for its Georgian Crescent, its mineral water and its Opera House.

A High Peak map poster is less about streets and more about the relationship between towns and landscape. The open moors appear as large empty spaces, and the settlements in the valleys become points of density across the print.

Buxton

The spa town has a clearly defined centre with its Crescent, parks and gardens. On the poster it forms one of the densest parts of the borough.

02

Kinder Scout

The high moorland plateau is almost free of roads. On the map it appears as a wide, quiet area between the northern towns.

03

Valley towns

Glossop, New Mills and other towns sit in valleys along rivers and railway lines, forming separate clusters joined by roads.
