Huissen Map Poster & Print
Huissen lies in Gelderland between Arnhem and Nijmegen, on the low land shaped by the Rhine. From above, the old town is a compact oval of streets that once sat inside walls, surrounded by newer residential districts and then a wide band of floodplain, meadows and dykes. The river and its embankments form the strongest lines on the map.
The town has an unusual past for the Netherlands: for centuries Huissen belonged to the Duchy of Cleves and later to Prussia, and only became Dutch in 1816. Today it is part of the municipality of Lingewaard. That long independence from the surrounding provinces is part of why the historic centre kept its own tight, self-contained shape.
A Huissen map poster shows that contrast between the small medieval core and the open, flat landscape around it. The dykes draw long, gentle curves, the water meadows stay mostly empty, and the grid of later neighbourhoods fills in between. In black and white, it reads like a diagram of how Dutch river towns sit with the water.

Rhine floodplain
Broad water meadows and river arms lie beside the town, mostly open land on the map, framed by the long, deliberate curves of the dykes.
Between two cities
Huissen sits between Arnhem and Nijmegen, and at larger sizes the map shows how its roads connect into that wider regional network.

The map works for anyone who grew up among Huissen's dykes and orchards or who commutes from here to Arnhem or Nijmegen. The small old centre and the curving embankments give a clear, balanced print that suits a hallway or study.
