Valley-floor town
The streets crowd onto the narrow level ground of the valley. The town takes a stretched shape that follows the valley floor instead of a round centre.

Jiagao Map Poster & Print
Jiagao is a town in the mountainous east of Chongqing Municipality, in the rugged country north of the Yangtze where it runs toward the Three Gorges. Flat land is scarce here. On a map, the town squeezes into whatever level ground a valley allows, and its streets follow the contours instead of cutting across them.
The land around it is mostly steep hillside, much of it farmed in terraces or covered with forest. Roads zigzag up the slopes to link hamlets and farms. This makes a map of the area look very different from a lowland town. The built-up core is narrow and stretched out, and thin winding lines reach into the hills around it.
A Jiagao map poster brings out the character of mountain China: a dense ribbon of streets in the valley, surrounded by the looping, switchbacking roads of the hills. It is a striking and unusual print. It suits anyone with roots in eastern Chongqing or an interest in how settlements adapt to difficult terrain.

Switchback roads
Mountain roads fold back and forth up the slopes around the town. In black and white they make some of the most graphic lines on the poster.
Three Gorges country
The town lies in the hill region of eastern Chongqing near the Yangtze gorges. The landscape here is steep and deeply cut by rivers.

Cur Jiagao
Tabula quae aliquid significat
Many families from eastern Chongqing now live in large cities across China or abroad. A map of Jiagao is a quiet way to keep the home valley on the wall. The winding roads also make it a strong piece of graphic art for people who have never been there.
The title and subtitle can show the name in Chinese characters or Latin letters, along with a date or a family name. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Order a matte print with an optional frame, or get the digital HD files.
