Kumla Map Poster & Print

Kumla is a town in Örebro County, in the central Swedish province of Närke, just south of Örebro. It sits on a wide, fertile plain, and the surrounding land is open farmland with woodland further off. The railway runs through the middle of the town, and the compact centre developed around the station, with residential areas laid out in orderly blocks and curving streets around it.

Kumla is widely known in Sweden for Kumlaanstalten, one of the country's high-security prisons, located on the edge of the town. The town also has a long history of shoemaking, which was once its main industry. Today it is primarily a residential town, closely connected to Örebro and nearby Hallsberg.

A Kumla map poster shows a very Scandinavian town plan: the railway as a strong axis, a tidy centre and residential districts with gentle curves and cul-de-sacs, all set against open fields. The flat ground keeps the image clean and easy to read.

Railway through town

The railway divides Kumla into two sides and runs past the central area. On the poster it forms a long, straight line that anchors the whole composition.

02

Residential districts

Post-war housing areas with curving streets and cul-de-sacs surround the centre. They give the map a soft, looping texture on either side of the tracks.

03

Närke plain

Open farmland stretches around the town on the flat plain. Its simple field shapes frame the built-up area and emphasise the town's compact outline.
