Limoges grew from two separate settlements, and from above you can still see both. The Cité sits around the cathedral close to the Vienne, while the Château quarter climbs the higher ground to the northwest. Tight, curving streets fill each core, and a ring of boulevards traces the line of the old walls. Beyond them, later neighbourhoods run out in looser, more regular blocks.
The Vienne runs along the southern edge of the historic centre and gives the map its strongest line. Old stone bridges cross it close to the cathedral, and green banks follow the water east and west. North of the centre, the railway runs in toward the Gare des Bénédictins, whose long tracks and yards cut a clear diagonal through the streets.
Limoges is known around the world for porcelain, and before that for enamel work, both of which shaped its workshops and kilns for centuries. A Limoges map poster shows the plan behind that craft history: a cathedral quarter, a merchant hill, a river crossing and the ring roads that now hold them together in a single, readable composition.
Two medieval cores, one around the cathedral and one on the hill of the former abbey, show up as separate knots of narrow, winding streets inside a shared ring.
The river curves below the old town, and historic bridges such as the Pont Saint-Étienne give the southern edge of the map a line of short, even strokes.
Tracks heading into the Gare des Bénédictins make a wide diagonal band through the northern districts, a rare straight line in an otherwise organic plan.

Cur Limoges
Limoges suits people who care about craft: porcelain collectors, former students, families with roots in the Limousin. The contrast between the twisting old quarters and the smooth curve of the Vienne works well in black and white, especially at the larger print sizes.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, which is useful for marking a wedding in the cathedral quarter or a first flat near the river. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. The poster is available as a digital file or as a printed poster.
