Contour roads
Main roads curve around hills and along valleys rather than running straight. Their bends are the most characteristic lines on the Longhe map.

Longhe Map Poster & Print
Longhe is a town in the Chongqing municipality, in the hilly country east of the city of Chongqing. The land here is rarely flat. Roads follow the contours, climb to ridges and drop into valleys, and the town is built wherever the ground allows. From above, the street pattern is long and curving rather than square.
Much of the surrounding land is terraced for farming, and small settlements are spread along the valleys and slopes. Towns like Longhe are local centres for this countryside, with markets, schools and services located along the main roads that connect them to the wider region.
A Longhe map poster shows how strongly terrain can shape a place. Even without contour lines, the bends in the roads and the narrow shape of the built-up area make the hills easy to see. In black and white, the map looks almost like a drawing in pen and ink.

Valley settlement
Buildings group together on the flatter ground between slopes, so the town has a long, narrow outline. On the poster this area appears darker.
Rural surroundings
Beyond the town, scattered roads and small groups of houses spread across the hills. They give the edges of the map an open, detailed texture.
