Mawu Map Poster & Print
Mawu lies in the Chongqing municipality in southwestern China, a region of steep hills, narrow valleys and terraced slopes. From above, the town is shaped by the terrain rather than by a planned grid: streets gather where the ground levels out, and roads leave town along valleys, curving around hillsides instead of running straight.
Little detailed information about Mawu is widely published, so the map itself tells most of the story. Settlement in this part of Chongqing tends to cluster along rivers and road corridors, with farmland and scattered villages filling the lower slopes, and that general pattern is visible around the town as well.
A Mawu map poster translates the terrain into a web of curving lines. The dense cluster of streets at the centre contrasts with the thin, winding roads beyond, and the empty spaces between them hint at the hills and ridges that define this landscape. It is a quiet, organic composition rather than a geometric one.

Winding approach roads
Roads leading into the town bend repeatedly as they trace hillsides and valley floors, drawing long, looping lines across the page.
Open hillside space
Between the roads, large blank areas stand in for hills, fields and terraces, giving the map a spacious feel around the concentrated town centre.
