Sumapaz River
The river traces the edge of the town in a winding line, a natural boundary that the street pattern follows and that gives the poster its main curve.

Melgar Map Poster & Print
Melgar lies in the lowlands of Tolima, in a warm valley within driving distance of Bogotá. The Sumapaz River runs along the town, and the main road toward Girardot passes close by, so the map is organised by two long lines: one of water, one of road. Between them, a compact centre gives way to looser residential streets and holiday plots.
For many families from the capital, Melgar means a weekend of heat and water. The town is known for its large number of swimming pools in hotels, clubs and holiday homes, and much of its layout reflects that role as a retreat. Military installations in the surrounding area add broad, open parcels to the edges of the map.
A Melgar map poster captures the town as a place people return to rather than pass through. The river edge, the highway and the patchwork of plots form a composition that is busy in the centre and open at the margins, framed by the hills of the valley, which the map leaves as calm, empty space.

Weekend housing
Around the centre, streets loosen into gated plots and holiday homes, a looser texture that reflects the town's role as a warm escape from the cooler capital.
Highway corridor
The main road linking the area with Bogotá and Girardot runs close to the centre, a strong stroke from which much of the street network branches.

Cur Melgar
Tabula quae aliquid significat
Melgar is a map of long weekends, school holidays and family gatherings in the heat. Hanging it is a way of keeping those trips close, whether you grew up there, own a holiday house or went every year as a child.
The title and subtitle are yours to change, so the poster can carry a family name, a date or the coordinates. Choose from five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, to suit a flat in Bogotá or a house by the pool.
