Hill-shaped streets
Rather than a rigid grid, streets curve around slopes and follow the contours, producing a flowing pattern that shows the terrain beneath.

Monte Sião Map Poster & Print
Monte Sião is in the south of Minas Gerais, near the border with São Paulo state, in a landscape of rolling hills and small valleys. The town's streets adapt to that terrain. From above they bend and climb rather than running in a strict grid, and the centre sits among slopes with farmland and green ridges all around.
The town is best known in Brazil for knitwear. It is often called the national capital of knitted clothing, and its many shops and small factories draw buyers from across the country, especially in the cooler months. That trade shaped the centre, where commercial streets are dense and busy compared with the quiet hills just beyond.
A Monte Sião map poster shows the compact centre surrounded by roads following ridges and valleys, the typical pattern of a Minas hill town. It is a map shaped by topography, where the streets tell you something about the ground they climb, and it makes a soft, organic image in black and white.
