The Tumen River
The river bends past the town and marks the border with China, giving the poster a strong, curving line through the middle of the composition.

Namyang Map Poster & Print
Namyang lies in North Hamgyong Province in the far northeast of North Korea, on the southern bank of the Tumen River. The river forms the border with China, and the Chinese city of Tumen stands directly on the opposite bank. From above, the river curves past the town and the two settlements face each other across it.
A bridge links the two banks, and its short, straight line across the water is one of the most recognisable features of the map. The town itself occupies a relatively narrow strip of land between the river and the hills behind it, so its streets run mostly along the valley rather than spreading out in every direction.
A Namyang map poster emphasises this unusual geography. The Tumen River becomes a flowing central band, the bridge adds a precise crossing point, and the streets on either side form two distinct clusters. It is an understated, geographically striking image of a place defined by its position on a river border.

The river crossing
A bridge spans the Tumen between Namyang and the Chinese city of Tumen, a short, straight line that stands out clearly against the water.
Between river and hills
The town lies on a narrow strip of land between the river and rising ground, so its streets follow the valley and form an elongated shape.
