Valley-shaped town
Nandu's streets follow the level ground between hills. They give the town an irregular, flowing outline that differs from grid-planned towns on the plains.

Nandu is a town in south-eastern Guangxi, in the subtropical hill country that lies between the region's river valleys. From above, the landscape is broken into low, rounded hills with narrow strips of flat ground between them. The town's streets follow these valleys, and the built-up area has a slightly irregular outline shaped by the terrain rather than by a planned grid.
Much of this part of Guangxi is agricultural, with rice fields on the valley floors and orchards, eucalyptus plantations or woodland on the slopes. On a map, this shows as a fine patchwork around the town. Small fields fill the flat ground, and paths and minor roads wind between villages and up into the hills.
A Nandu map poster records a place most outsiders would never see on a general map, but which holds great meaning for those who come from it. The compact streets, the curving roads leading away into the hills and the scattered villages make a quiet, organic composition.

Winding roads
Roads leave the town along valleys and around hillsides. They draw long, curving lines across the poster towards neighbouring towns and villages.
Field patchwork
Small paddy fields and plots cover the flat land around the town. They form a delicate texture between the settlement and the wooded hills.
