Tabula
Ruislip lies in the London Borough of Hillingdon, on the north-western edge of the capital. From above, its streets form the looping crescents and closes of an interwar suburb, spreading out from the old village High Street around St Martin's Church and Manor Farm. The Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines cut across the town, their stations marking small shopping parades along the way.
To the north the streets stop abruptly at Ruislip Woods, one of the largest areas of ancient woodland in Greater London and a National Nature Reserve. Within it lies Ruislip Lido, a reservoir created in the early nineteenth century to feed the Grand Union Canal, now a place for lakeside walks with a small railway running along its shore.
A Ruislip map poster makes that contrast its subject: the tight residential pattern to the south, the rail lines slicing through it, and a wide, quiet expanse of woodland with the Lido set against it. The River Pinn traces a thin line across the town, adding a gentle curve to the composition.
The reservoir's irregular shoreline sits at the edge of the woods, a pale shape on the map that was dug to supply the Grand Union Canal and later became a leisure lake.
Ancient woodland stretches across the northern part of the map, a National Nature Reserve whose broad, empty area gives the poster a calm and open upper half.
Curving crescents and closes laid out between the wars spread around the stations, forming the soft, repeating street pattern typical of London's railway suburbs.

Cur Ruislip
Ruislip is a place people settle in for years, raise children in and return to on weekend walks through the woods. A map of it makes a natural housewarming or leaving present, and it suits anyone who knows the High Street, the Lido path or the walk to the station by heart.
Change the title, add a subtitle such as a street name or a year, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download six print sizes for $9 or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
