Tabula
Sa'dah sits on a broad basin in the highlands of northern Yemen, and from above the town reads as two parts. At the centre is the old city, a tight cluster of lanes held inside a mud-built wall. Around it, newer streets spread in looser blocks and follow the main roads outward, thinning into fields and scattered buildings at the edge of the plain.
The town has long been tied to the Zaydi tradition. The mosque associated with Imam al-Hadi ila'l-Haqq, who settled here in the late ninth century, is one of its best-known buildings, and the old quarter is known for tall houses built in layered mud. A Sa'dah map poster keeps none of that texture but holds its outline: a dense walled heart set against the open ground around it.
Drawn in black and white, the contrast comes through clearly. Inside the wall the street pattern is fine and irregular, shaped over centuries rather than surveyed. Outside it the lines grow straighter and further apart, and roads run off across the basin toward other towns in the governorate. The result is a small, legible map, easy to read at a glance, of a place whose layout still shows how it grew.
A near-closed ring marks the historic core, its narrow, winding lanes packed tightly together and clearly distinct from the more open grid of the districts that grew up beyond it.
The town lies on a wide, relatively flat plain ringed by higher ground, so the built-up area gives way to farmland and open space rather than to a hard natural edge.
Main routes leave the centre in several directions, and much of the newer building lines up along them, giving the town an uneven, spreading shape at its outer edges.

Cur Sa'dah
Sa'dah is a map for people with a personal link to northern Yemen: those who grew up there, family members living elsewhere, or anyone drawn to old walled towns of the Arabian highlands. The walled centre and the plain around it make a quiet, recognisable composition for a wall.
Each poster can carry your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, such as a family name, a date or a short dedication. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download HD files for $9, or order a matte print, with an optional wooden frame, shipped from print partners in more than 30 countries.
