Curving streets
Roads follow the contours of low ridges rather than a straight grid, bending through the town and giving the poster a soft, flowing structure.

Shuanglu Map Poster & Print
Shuanglu is a town in western Chongqing, in the hilly eastern part of the Sichuan Basin. The terrain here is a series of low ridges and shallow valleys, and settlements follow it closely. From above, the town is a cluster of streets arranged along roads that curve with the landscape. Newer blocks occupy the flatter ground, and older lanes sit near the centre.
The countryside around Shuanglu is a mosaic typical of the region. Terraced fields step up the slopes, small ponds and reservoirs fill the hollows, and narrow roads link scattered farmhouses. On the map these features create an intricate, fragmented pattern, quite different from the regular grids of cities on the plains of northern and eastern China.
A Shuanglu map poster brings this texture to the fore. The town provides a central concentration of streets, while the terraces, ponds and winding lanes around it fill the page with fine detail. In black and white, the interplay of curving roads and small bodies of water gives the composition a gentle, almost topographic quality.

Ponds and reservoirs
Small bodies of water sit in the hollows between hills, appearing as scattered open shapes that punctuate the dense rural pattern around town.
Terraced countryside
Stepped fields climb the slopes around the town, producing fine, layered lines that give the surrounding landscape a rich, textured look.
