Streets along the valleys
The built-up area follows the lower ground between hills, so its streets stretch in lines and branches rather than forming a compact square block.

Shuangshi Map Poster & Print
Shuangshi lies in the western part of Chongqing municipality, where the Sichuan Basin breaks into low hills and folded ridges. The land here is rarely flat for long, so on the map the settlement follows the valley floors. Streets gather where the ground allows them and spread along the roads that lead out toward neighbouring towns.
Around the built-up core the landscape is intensely worked. Small fields and terraces follow the contours of the slopes, and narrow streams and irrigation ponds are scattered between them. The result is a fine, irregular pattern that looks almost like a fingerprint in monochrome. Roads twist to follow the terrain, and the town's grid has to bend to fit the hills.
A Shuangshi map poster records that close relationship between a market town and the ground it is built on. It is the kind of place defined less by famous landmarks than by its setting: the everyday streets, the roads toward the wider municipality, and the rural hills that surround it on every side.

Terraced countryside
Fields and terraces cover the slopes around town. In black and white their contour-following edges create a dense, rippling texture.
Winding local roads
Roads leave the town in loops and switchbacks, linking it to nearby settlements across the hilly western districts of Chongqing.
