Tongeren Map Poster & Print
Tongeren, in the province of Limburg, is widely regarded as the oldest town in Belgium, founded as the Roman settlement of Atuatuca Tungrorum. On a map, its historic centre is a compact oval of streets enclosed by a ring of boulevards. That ring follows the line of the old defences, and sections of both Roman and medieval walls still survive along it.
At the heart of the town stands the Basilica of Our Lady, and on the main square is a statue of Ambiorix, the Eburonian leader who resisted Julius Caesar. The town is also known for its Sunday antiques market and its Gallo-Roman Museum. Around the centre, the gently rolling fields of Haspengouw open out, dotted with orchards and small villages.
A Tongeren map poster shows two thousand years of growth in a single, legible shape. The dense core sits inside its ring, with roads leading out into the countryside. It is a natural choice for history lovers and for anyone with ties to Limburg.

The Basilica of Our Lady and the main square with the Ambiorix statue lie at the centre. It is where the old streets converge.
Haspengouw countryside
Beyond the ring, the town opens into the rolling farmland and orchards of Haspengouw. The fields give the map a soft, spacious outer frame.

Cur Tongeren
Tabula quae aliquid significat
Tongeren carries a sense of depth that few small towns can match, and a map of it says as much about history as about place. It suits a home in Limburg or a room far from Belgium where someone keeps their roots.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with the Latin name or a family date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. It is available as a $9 set of HD files or as a printed poster from a European print partner.
