Pinnau river
The small Pinnau winds past the town on its way to the Elbe. It gives the poster a soft, curving line that ties the older quarters together.

Uetersen Map Poster & Print
Uetersen lies in the Pinneberg district of Schleswig-Holstein, north-west of Hamburg, on the Pinnau, a small river that flows on to the Elbe. The town grew up around a Cistercian convent founded in the thirteenth century. On the map, the older streets still gather around that early core before spreading out into the residential quarters that surround it.
Uetersen is known as the Rosenstadt, the town of roses, because of its Rosarium. Laid out in a park near the centre in the first half of the twentieth century, it is one of the oldest public rose gardens in Germany. The Pinnau once carried trade to the town's small harbour and linked it with the Elbe and the marshland farms of the region.
An Uetersen map poster brings together the winding Pinnau, the historic convent quarter and the regular streets of newer neighbourhoods. All of it sits in flat, low-lying country crossed by drainage ditches and field roads. The result is a gentle, balanced composition on the scale of a North German small town.

Convent quarter
The streets around the medieval convent are the oldest part of Uetersen, a compact area of short lanes and irregular blocks at the heart of the map.
Rosarium park
The rose garden lies in a green park near the town centre. On the map it is an open patch in the street network that marks Uetersen's best-known attraction.
