River valley
A river runs through the town and sets the direction of the main streets. It makes the town long and narrow rather than round.

Xunchang Map Poster & Print
Xunchang is in the south of Sichuan, in the hilly country of Yibin prefecture, where the land folds into many small valleys. Towns here grow along the valley floors, and Xunchang follows that pattern. On the map its streets run close to a river, and the built area stretches along the valley instead of spreading evenly in every direction.
The centre is fairly compact, with a mix of older irregular streets and newer, wider roads. Where the ground rises, the street pattern becomes looser and the roads start to curve with the slopes. The edges of the map are mostly terraced hills and farmland, crossed by a few winding roads.
A Xunchang map poster shows a Sichuan valley town at its simplest: water, a narrow strip of streets and hills on both sides. Nothing is exaggerated. The poster gets its character from the way the river and the land shape everything, which makes it a quiet, balanced piece for a wall.

Town centre
The busiest streets form a compact cluster near the river. There older lanes and newer roads meet in a small, dense area.
Hill country
Terraced hills and farmland surround the town, crossed by winding roads. They give the frame a soft, open border.

Tabula quae aliquid significat
For someone from Xunchang, a poster of its streets keeps a small hometown on the wall, whether they live in Chengdu, Shanghai or overseas. The title can use Chinese characters, with a family name or a date in the subtitle.
The river valley shows up clearly in Blueprint and Noir, and the Paper and Sand styles have a warmer, more traditional look. Classic black and white is also available. You can buy the digital files for $9 or order a printed poster.
