Roads that follow terrain
Streets wrap around slopes instead of cutting through them. The looping, organic lines give the print a hand-drawn quality, very different from a lowland grid.

Yongxin Map Poster & Print
Yongxin lies in the southern part of Chongqing Municipality, a region where almost nothing is flat. On a map this means streets that curve rather than cross, buildings that gather along valley floors and ridgelines, and patches of farmland stepped into the slopes around the built-up area. The street network is less a grid than a set of threads laid across folded ground.
Places like Yongxin rarely appear in travel guides, but their maps are often more interesting than those of better-known cities. The roads record how people have dealt with the terrain: switchbacks where the land rises, denser clusters where it levels out, and small watercourses that carve the valleys and draw settlement along their banks.
A Yongxin map poster keeps all of that and removes everything else. In black and white the hills are implied by the way the lines move, and the eye reads the contours without any shading at all. The result is a quiet, graphic image of a place known mostly to the people who live there.

Valley-floor settlement
Buildings concentrate where the ground is gentlest, so the density on the map traces the shape of the valleys rather than any administrative boundary.
Terraced countryside
Surrounding fields and small tracks thin out into the hills and frame the town with a loose, lighter texture at the edges of the poster.
