Tabula
Zhengzhou lies on the open North China Plain, just south of the Yellow River, and the absence of hills lets its road network spread in wide, even rings. The city grew rapidly in the twentieth century as the point where two of China's main railway lines crossed, and the tracks still cut long straight lines through the older districts.
Near the centre, the Erqi Memorial Tower marks a busy square from which several roads fan outward, a landmark of the old railway city. Beneath the modern streets lie traces of a Shang dynasty walled city more than three thousand years old, and sections of its rammed-earth walls survive as long, raised strips in the eastern part of the old town.
East of the original centre, the Zhengdong New District introduces a very different geometry: a circular business district of towers wrapped around a lake and a convention centre, joined by canals and green belts. A Zhengzhou map poster captures the contrast between the dense railway town and the planned rings of the newer city.

Surviving stretches of ancient rammed-earth walls in the older eastern districts, tracing the outline of a Bronze Age city within the modern street grid.
The northern limit of the map, where the city gives way to the wide, braided course of the Yellow River and its flat flood plain.

Cur Zhengzhou
Zhengzhou is a map of movement and growth, with railway lines, ring roads and a new district drawn almost like a diagram. It appeals to people from Henan, to those who have lived or studied here, and to anyone who likes a strongly structured composition.
Add a title, a subtitle with a date, and the coordinates line, then choose one of five styles. Blueprint emphasises the planned rings, while Noir gives the rail lines weight. Order a printed poster on matte paper, framed or unframed, or download the files for $9.
