Hymettus foothills
The eastern edge of the municipality presses against Mount Hymettus. The street network visibly thins and curves as the terrain rises, then stops at open, unbuilt mountainside.

Tabula
Zográfos lies east of central Athens, where the city's continuous fabric begins to rise toward Mount Hymettus. From above it is one of the most tightly packed parts of the basin: short streets, small blocks and apartment buildings pressed close together, the lines bending as the ground climbs. Toward the east the pattern stops at the mountain, and the drawing gives way to empty slope.
Two large areas break up the density. The main campus of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Zografou campus of the National Technical University occupy broad tracts on the side facing the mountain. There, looping internal roads and open ground replace the tight grid. The campuses give the municipality a large student population and, on paper, a striking contrast between crowded blocks and spacious grounds.
A Zográfos map poster captures that tension well. The residential streets become a fine, almost woven mesh of lines. The campuses read as calm islands with curving drives, and the slopes of Hymettus leave a clean margin along one edge. It is a natural choice for former students, for Athenians who grew up here, or for anyone drawn to how Greek neighbourhoods fill every available block.

The campuses of the University of Athens and the National Technical University form large open areas threaded with winding access roads, a sharp contrast to the compact residential blocks around them.
Much of Zográfos is built from small blocks and narrow streets lined with apartment buildings. In a black-and-white drawing they produce a dense, finely woven texture.
