Zumpango del Río Map Poster & Print
Zumpango del Río is the seat of Eduardo Neri municipality in Guerrero, in the mountains of the Sierra Madre del Sur north of the state capital, Chilpancingo. The main highway linking Chilpancingo with Iguala and further north passes nearby, and much of the town's layout relates to that route through the hills.
From above, the town is not a flat grid. Streets adjust to the terrain, running along the lower ground and climbing up the slopes where possible. The built area is compact and bounded by steep, dry hillsides, so the settlement shows up clearly against the textured landscape around it.
A Zumpango del Río map poster is a study in how a Mexican mountain town fits into its setting. The centre has the denser texture of an older town, while the outer streets break up as the ground rises. Printed in monochrome, the edge where the streets stop and the hills begin becomes the most expressive line on the sheet.

Highway corridor
The main road between Chilpancingo and Iguala runs through the area and gives the town its main direction of movement through the valley.
Surrounding slopes
Steep hills close in the town on several sides. Streets thin out as they climb, which gives the poster a natural, uneven border.
