Where the Weser begins
The Werra and Fulda meet at the northern end of the old town and flow on as the Weser. A memorial stone on the Tanzwerder island marks the spot, and the joining channels form the clearest shape on the map.

D'Kaart
From above, Hannoversch Münden is defined by water. The Werra and the Fulda come together at the northern tip of the old town and continue as the Weser, one of Germany's major rivers. The town sits in the fork between them, so the historic centre looks almost like a peninsula, with river lines on two sides and bridges tying it to the quarters across the water.
Inside that fork the street pattern is tight and irregular, a medieval layout of short lanes and small blocks that has survived largely intact. The town is known for its large number of half-timbered houses, several hundred of them, which is why it is often counted among the finest timber-framed towns in Germany. On a map this shows as a dense, fine-grained core set against the smooth curves of the rivers.
Beyond the old town the streets loosen into residential districts that follow the valley floors, while forest presses in from the surrounding hills and leaves large blank areas on the edges of the sheet. A Hannoversch Münden map poster captures that contrast clearly: a small, intricate centre, three rivers branching like a letter Y, and quiet green slopes holding everything in place.
The Werra and Fulda meet at the northern end of the old town and flow on as the Weser. A memorial stone on the Tanzwerder island marks the spot, and the joining channels form the clearest shape on the map.
The historic centre keeps its medieval scale, with narrow lanes and closely packed plots. Its many preserved timber-framed houses give the town its reputation, and the street grid reads as a dense, irregular web between the rivers.
The old stone bridge across the Werra dates back to the Middle Ages and is among the oldest surviving stone bridges in Germany. On the poster it appears as a short, firm line linking the old town to the far bank.

Firwat Hannoversch Münden
People hang this map because the shape is unusual and instantly readable: a small town caught between two rivers at the very point where a third begins. It suits anyone who grew up here, studied or worked nearby, or once paddled the Werra or Fulda and remembers arriving at the confluence.
The poster can be personalised with your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example a family name or the date of a move. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, download HD files for $9, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
