Thiruthuraipoondi Map Poster & Print
Thiruthuraipoondi is a town in Tiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu, in the low, flat country of the Cauvery delta near the Bay of Bengal. The land here is almost level and crossed by rivers, distributaries and irrigation channels. On a map, the town forms a compact centre at a meeting of roads, surrounded on every side by a fine network of watercourses and fields.
The delta has long been one of South India's main rice-growing regions, and the landscape around the town is shaped by paddy cultivation. Channels branch and rejoin across the plain, and roads often run along their embankments. Like many towns in the delta, Thiruthuraipoondi has a temple at its heart, and the older streets gather around it.
A Thiruthuraipoondi map poster captures this watery lowland pattern. The dense centre is ringed by threads of channels and roads that stretch in all directions. In a single colour on paper, it looks almost like a textile, a fitting picture of a town that depends on water and the fields it feeds.

Temple-centred core
The older streets gather around the town's temple, as in many delta towns. It forms the densest part of the map, at the meeting of the main roads.
Paddy plain
Rice fields reach to the horizon on all sides. On the map they show as open space, broken only by embankment roads and waterways.
