Kōnan is a city in the north of Aichi Prefecture, on the flat Nōbi Plain between Nagoya and the Kiso River. The river forms its northern border with Gifu Prefecture. Its wide, braided channel and riverside parks are the most striking feature on the map, drawing a strong horizontal line across the top of the sheet.
South of the river, the city is a mix of residential streets, small factories and remaining patches of farmland, crossed by rail lines to Nagoya.
