Miyazaki Map Poster & Print
Miyazaki lies on the southeastern coast of Kyushu, facing open Pacific water. The Oyodo River runs through the city from west to east before reaching the sea, splitting the centre into northern and southern halves joined by several bridges. North of the river, the downtown grid gathers around broad avenues lined with palms, while the coast is traced by long, straight beaches and pine woods.
The mild, sunny climate made the prefecture a popular honeymoon destination in the 1960s and 1970s, and professional baseball teams still hold spring training camps here. South along the coast lies Aoshima, a small island ringed by eroded rock ridges known as the Devil's Washboard, joined to the shore by a short bridge.
A Miyazaki map poster balances the three elements that shape the city: the regular downtown streets, the broad band of the river, and the smooth line of the coast stretching north and south. Hills rise to the west, so the city fits on a narrow coastal plain, and the result is a map with a clear sense of direction, turned toward the sea.

Pacific shoreline
Long straight beaches backed by pine forest run along the eastern edge of the city, giving the map a single clean coastline with almost no indentations.
Aoshima island
A tiny island to the south, circled by ridged rock shelves called the Devil's Washboard, it sits just off a quieter stretch of coast and is reached by a footbridge.
