Songnen Plain setting
The town lies on one of northeast China's great agricultural plains, so the surrounding map is flat, open and ruled by long straight roads and field boundaries rather than hills or coastlines.

Gannan Map Poster & Print
Gannan sits in the far west of Heilongjiang, a county seat administered from Qiqihar and close to the boundary with Inner Mongolia. From above, the town is a tight cluster of blocks surrounded by a vast, level checkerboard of fields, the kind of landscape that makes the built area read almost like an island on the page.
The street pattern is largely orthogonal, with long avenues running roughly north to south and east to west and a scatter of newer residential compounds on the edges. Rural roads leave the town in straight lines, and drainage channels and shelter belts trace thin parallel strokes across the surrounding plain between villages.
A Gannan map poster works best when it keeps some of that countryside in the frame. The contrast between the dense centre and the quiet geometry of the fields is the whole story here, and in black and white it becomes an almost abstract composition of lines, blocks and open space.

Orthogonal town core
Gannan's centre is laid out on a regular grid of broad streets, giving the middle of the poster a crisp, evenly spaced texture of blocks.
Radiating country roads
Straight roads leave town toward outlying villages and neighbouring counties, drawing clean lines across the farmland that frame the settlement from every side.
