Narrow, irregular lanes are packed together in the centre of town. They stand out clearly from the more open streets and fields around them.

Māchhīwāra Map Poster & Print
Māchhīwāra lies in Ludhiana district in Punjab, on the flat alluvial plain near the Sutlej river. From above the town has a dense older core of irregular lanes. Newer streets extend outward, and beyond them lies the regular, almost chessboard pattern of Punjab's farmland.
Roads connect the town to Samrala, Ludhiana and the river crossings to the north. The Sutlej itself, with its wide braided channels and floodplain, is one of the largest natural features in the area and gives the map a broad, flowing edge.
A Māchhīwāra map poster captures a place with deep significance in Sikh history. In 1705 Guru Gobind Singh took refuge in the forest here, and Gurdwara Charan Kanwal Sahib marks that episode and draws many visitors.

Sutlej floodplain
The river and its broad channels lie to the north. They add a wide, braided band that contrasts with the straight lines of the fields.
Punjab field pattern
Farmland around the town is divided into regular rectangular plots, creating an even texture that extends across the plain.
