Forest Park is a suburb in Hamilton County, north of Cincinnati. It was developed from the 1950s onward as a planned community. That origin shows plainly on the map. There is almost no grid here. Instead there are curving residential streets, loops and cul-de-sacs, grouped into neighbourhoods that feed onto a few main roads.
The patterns are deliberate. Streets bend around small hills and in and out of each other in a way typical of American postwar planning. Along one side of the city lies the wide wooded area of Winton Woods, a large county park with a lake. On paper, it forms a big open space next to the dense residential loops.
