Luodian Map Poster & Print
Luodian is a town in Baoshan District, in the northern part of Shanghai, not far from the Yangtze estuary. From above, it is a mix of older settlement, newer residential estates and waterways typical of the flat Yangtze delta. Small canals and streams cross the area, and the town has grown into the wider fabric of Shanghai while keeping its own distinct centre.
Luodian is known for its North European new town, a planned district built in the 2000s with architecture inspired by Scandinavian design, complete with lakes and canals. The area also saw heavy fighting during the Battle of Shanghai in 1937. Today it combines suburban development with remnants of its older, water-shaped landscape.
