Mezőkövesd sits where the Great Hungarian Plain starts to rise towards the Bükk hills, in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county. From above, you can read the town's past as an agricultural market town. The town is best known as the home of the Matyó, whose richly coloured embroidery and folk costume are recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage.
