Ibirapuitã river
The river loops past the town in slow meanders, softening one edge of the grid and giving the poster its one strong natural line.

Alegrete Map Poster & Print
Alegrete lies in the west of Rio Grande do Sul, in the Pampa, the region of wide grasslands that extends toward Uruguay and Argentina. The town is built beside the Ibirapuitã river, which winds along its edge before continuing across the plain. From above the contrast is sharp: a tidy, rectangular street grid set in a landscape with very little other built form around it.
The grid follows the Iberian habit of regular blocks and central squares, with the main streets running parallel and opening onto plazas at intervals. The loops of the river and the line of the railway add the only curves and diagonals to an otherwise orderly layout. The municipality covers a very large territory, much of it given over to cattle ranching and rice.
Alegrete is the birthplace of the poet Mario Quintana, one of Brazil's most widely read twentieth-century writers, and of the statesman Oswaldo Aranha. An Alegrete map poster shows the town as the pampa frames it: a compact, gridded block beside a winding river, with plenty of space around it on every side.

Regular street grid
Straight parallel streets divide the centre into even blocks, a clear and graphic pattern that prints especially well in the Blueprint or Classic styles.
Pampa surroundings
Beyond the last blocks the map opens into near-empty grassland, so the town appears as a clean, self-contained shape framed by white space.

Dlaczego Alegrete
Mapa, która coś znaczy
Alegrete means something specific to people from the Fronteira Oeste: ranch life, long horizons, Quintana's verses. A map of the town is a restrained way to keep that connection visible in a home far from the pampa, whether in Porto Alegre, São Paulo or abroad.
Write the title in Portuguese, add a family name or date in the subtitle and adjust the coordinates line. Choose among five styles, then download the unwatermarked files for $9 or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
