Medieval oval
The old town is a compact, rounded tangle of lanes and small squares. It stands out clearly against the straighter streets that grew around it later.

Aschersleben Map Poster & Print
Aschersleben lies on the northeastern edge of the Harz foothills, in the farming country of Saxony-Anhalt. It is counted among the oldest documented towns in the state, and its plan still shows that age. The historic centre forms a compact oval of irregular streets and squares, and the later districts spread out around it in a broader, more regular pattern.
The line of the old fortifications can still be traced on the map, because a green ring and several preserved towers mark where the walls once stood. The small river Eine passes through the town. In 2010 Aschersleben hosted the state garden show, which reworked some of its central green spaces into parks that still sit between the old town and the newer quarters.
An Aschersleben map poster shows a clear history of growth: a dense medieval kernel, a ring of green where defences stood, then streets reaching out toward fields and railway lines. The contrast between the tight centre and the wider outskirts gives the print depth, and the oval core draws the eye to the middle of the sheet.

Former wall line
Green spaces and remaining towers follow the course of the old town walls, drawing a soft ring around the historic centre on the map.
The Eine valley
The small river Eine runs through the town, adding a thin, winding line that cuts across the otherwise land-bound street pattern.
