Seafront avenue
A long, nearly straight road follows the beach along the gulf. It forms a crisp line where the dense street pattern ends and open water begins, giving the poster a firm southern edge.

Kalamata Map Poster & Print
Kalamata lies at the top of the Messinian Gulf in the southern Peloponnese, with the Taygetus range rising to the east. From above, the city runs in a broad band from the shoreline inland. A long straight seafront road lines the gulf, and the older town gathers at the foot of a castle hill further north.
The city has a distinctive place in modern Greek history. It was among the first places freed at the start of the War of Independence in 1821. It gave its name to the Kalamata olive, grown throughout the surrounding Messinian countryside. A serious earthquake in 1986 led to large-scale rebuilding in parts of the city.
A Kalamata map poster shows a city shaped by two edges, the sea to the south and the mountains to the east. Between them, a riverbed cuts through the urban area, the grid becomes more regular towards the beach, and the older streets bend around the castle. It is a clear, readable composition with a strong coastline.

Castle hill
The medieval castle stands on a rise above the old town, and nearby streets bend and narrow around it. That creates a small, tighter knot of lines in the northern part of the map.
Nedon riverbed
The Nedon runs down from the mountains and crosses the city towards the sea. Its channel divides the urban grid and appears as a gentle diagonal through the composition.

Dlaczego Kalamata
Mapa, która coś znaczy
Kalamata is somewhere people return to: for summers by the gulf, family in Messinia or the olive harvest. A map poster holds the whole city, from the castle down to the shore, in one calm image.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a date, a name or a line in Greek. Then choose from five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint and Sand in particular suit a seaside city.
