Dom Luís I bridge
The iron arch links the Serra do Pilar hill with Porto's Ribeira. On the map it is a short, decisive stroke across the Douro, the point where the two cities meet.

Vila Nova de Gaia Map Poster & Print
Vila Nova de Gaia faces Porto across the Douro, and on a map the two cities read as one composition split by water. Gaia's riverfront is a narrow strip of quays and steep lanes. Behind it the land climbs quickly, and the street pattern loosens as it spreads south and west toward the Atlantic shore.
The riverside is known around the world for its port wine lodges, where wine from the Douro valley has long been aged and shipped. Above them, on a rocky promontory, stands the round church of the Serra do Pilar monastery. The two-level Dom Luís I bridge crosses from that promontory to Porto's old town, and it is the clearest line on the map.
A Vila Nova de Gaia map poster shows the city from its own bank: the river as a wide dark band, the bridges that span it, the old lodge quarter packed against the water, and the long coastline to the west. It suits anyone who has walked down those steep lanes to the quay or looked back at Porto from the Gaia side.

Port lodge quarter
Close to the riverfront, a tight cluster of lodges and warehouses fills the lower slopes. The streets here are short and steep and follow the terrain down toward the water.
Atlantic shoreline
To the west the municipality runs out to the ocean, and the map ends in a long sandy edge that sits opposite the curved riverbank to the north.

Dlaczego Vila Nova de Gaia
Mapa, która coś znaczy
For many people, Gaia is where they watched the sun set over Porto or toured the cellars on a first trip to Portugal. A map of the south bank records that particular point of view, with the river at the centre, rather than the familiar view from Porto.
You can title the poster with a trip date, an anniversary or simply the city's name, and then pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the HD files, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
