Adampur lies in the Doaba region of Punjab, between the Beas and Sutlej rivers, northeast of Jalandhar. It is a town of modest size set in flat, intensively farmed plains. On a map it has a dense centre of lanes and markets, with roads extending toward Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and the surrounding villages.
The town is best known for Adampur Air Force Station, an important Indian Air Force base whose airfield also serves civilian flights as Jalandhar's airport.
